Student Housing

Since the first version of 42 North was proposed, many new student oriented projects have been proposed and some of them have been completed. That raises the question of whether a market exists for student housing so far from campus. There are many new student apartment projects that are located closer to the University of Michigan campus, such as:

Zaragon Place on East University Avenue (248 Beds),

Sterling 411 Lofts on East Washington Street (343 Beds),

Zaragon West on East William Street is under construction and set to open fall 2012 (199 Beds).

Landmark on South Forest is under construction and slated to open fall 2012 (more than 600 Beds).

The Varsity on East Washington Street received approval in November and construction is set to begin soon (400 Beds).

City Place apartments on Fifth Avenue is now under construction

Ann Arbor City Apartments on First Street has broken ground.

618 South Main is currently in the planning process (190 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments).

Adding to the competition for students is the U of M’s new 450-bed dormitory at the corner of State and Washington called the North Quad.
