Fire Station Consolidation Plan

Update! According to a report on A2Politico, the City Administrator informed Council that he was putting the fire station consolidation plan on hold. The annarbordotcom web site also reported on this Ann Arbor administrator tells City Council closing fire stations is not on his agenda now.

In the fall of 2012, the City scheduled a series of meetings to inform the public of its plan to consolidate the current five fire stations into three stations. The meeting schedule is as follows:
  • Wednesday September 19, 2012, 6-8 p.m., Ann Arbor Senior Center, 1320 Baldwin Ave.
  • Thursday September  20, 6-8 p.m., Downtown Library, 343 S. Fifth Ave.
  • Tuesday September 25, 6-8 p.m., Traverwood Library, 3333 Traverwood Drive
  • Wednesday September 26, 6-8 p.m., CTN Studios, 2805 S. Industrial Highway
  • Thursday September 27, 6-8 p.m., Lawton School Auditorium, 2250 S. Seventh St.
More than 60 residents attended the 9/27 meeting at Lawton.

The City Administrator intends to report to the City Council in December or January about the public meetings. Hopefully, he understands how much the residents of Ann Arbor oppose this plan.
